"A Reunion of Old Friends"
|
The sun glistened cheerfully over the azure water, while a pleasant breeze cooled those who were making preparations for the wedding ceremony later this evening. Despite the lake's namesake, there was little to worry about this day, for Tunare cast a protective hand over the small island nestled in the middle of the Lake of Ill Omen. Butterflies fluttered by with an innocence that would be the day's tenor, a day that would shine brightly in Norrath's history. Suddenly, a strange humming sound filled the air, and those present nervously turned towards the noise that came from the edge of the island. The area surrounding the source of the sound rippled and twisted, at which four bodies in brilliant purple and green emerged into physical form. A cry of surprise and excitement came from Meril's voice, as she pushed through the small crowd to run to the four beings that had just materialized. Before the four visitors could fully recover from their magical journey, they were greeted by a huge, almost violent hug that nearly sent them toppling into the water! "My friends!" cried
Meril and she greeted them with eyes full of tears. "I thought
you would not come. . . I sent words to your parents, hoping you would
receive word. . ." Standing from left to right were the twins Nayer and Mentik, their sister Syleena, and the lovely Lirpa. They grew up together in a small village near Kelethin, learning the fundamentals of life taught to all children, until the day each had to separate to find their life's purpose. They swore that one day, they would be reunited when the first of them would marry. Now, nearly 20 years later, they had kept their oath. Reunited again, Meril happily introduced them to her soon-to-be husband, Semedi, and they spent a few memorable moments to catch up on old times. After years of struggle, decades of fighting evil in different and remote parts of Norrath, the friends are together once more, but this time for a joyous occasion. Their little sister, now a beautiful woman, would soon be married. Tears of love and happiness filled them all as they held this moment dearly. More than just a reunion, the
meeting served to be a retying of bonds.
