"Twins
of Fate"

My evening repast, taken by the window of a quaint tavern in Qeynos, was broken by the sight of two beautiful identical twin warriors chatting quietly to each other not a stones throw away. I quickly tossed a few silver upon the wooden table to pay for my meal and dashed outside. The tavern door sounded loudly as it closed behind me, drawing the gaze of the twins to me. A quick smile and bow on my part and they waved me to their side. “I am Wyndforge, a painter of sorts. Could I impose upon your graces to pose for me?” So remarkable, they were, indistinguishable in every regard and yet each exuded warmth and strength of their own. “I am Kaitlyn”, the beauty to my left stated, “and this is my sister, Katia. We have heard tales of a traveling painter and would be justly honored to sit for thee.” An hour passed quickly, then two and these regal ladies complaining not at my small demands, Standing proudly in the evenings warm breeze, until at last I laid down my brushes. The quiet one, Kaitia, stepped forward and bowed deeply before me. “May the gods watch over thee, good man, and keep thee from harm. We must take our leave of thee now as duty calls us to battle once more. May the grass cushion your journey and the light of day guide your way.” With those softly spoken words, they bowed together and slipped off into the night, leaving my thoughts my only company under the bright moon. |
