" Saviors in the Mist "

A few days after my wonderful time in Ak'Anon, I decided to continue my exploration of the magical lands of Faydwer.  During this time I met many elves who welcomed me, a human ranger of Tunare, with open arms. Exchanging many a tale with the elves, I soon learned that deep in the southern part of Faydark was a wonderful city of Fairies!  I quickly packed my belongings and traveled in search of the city...

A few days had passed and I saw no sign of the city, nor of any Fairies.  I did, however, stumble upon an enormous castle who sheer majesty took my breath away. My curiosity lead me through its forbidding gates, and into a well-groomed courtyard.

I wandered for a few minutes in search of someone who might be of assistance.  The sounds of footsteps could be heard just up ahead, and as I approached the sound, I yelled "HELLO!" so as to not startle anyone by my sudden appearance.

When I reached the source of the footsteps, a pale figure turned quickly
to expose two blood-red eyes that met mine in an angry gaze.

There, before me, stood death itself.

A Will Sapper charged at me with fangs ablaze, screaming the most horrible, most fearful sound I had ever heard.  They say that just before you die, your whole life flashes before your eyes.  Well, terror had struck me so fast and so deeply,
that only darkness filled my eyes.
It was the same darkness that filled my mind, my heart, my soul.
This was truly the end.

As the light of hope faded from me, I heard faint sounds of swords clashing and barely recognizable words shouting above me.  I remember blurs of silver and green flashing, followed by complete darkness.

And then silence.  The calm, peaceful silence.

.

Hours later, I awoke with bloody bandages wrapped around my neck and torso.
An elf dressed in the finest green mail approached me, cautioning me not to move.

"You are hurt, friend Wyndforge," said a strong, yet calm voice.
"Rest now. You are safe in our protection."

Master rangers Dlon and Xiljan who I had met in Kelethin days before, miraculously saved me from the clutches of that deathly beast.  I had foolishly stumbled upon Castle Mistmoore, home to just about everything NOT nice in the world.

To this day, the image of the two heroes as they stood above me, protecting me from the perils of Castle Mistmoore, is etched vividly in my mind.

Dlon and Xiljan
May they always have Tunare's guiding hand
They are heroes of men
They are the Saviors in the Mist
