
"Love in the Air"

Making my way out of Kithikor Forest one morning, I caught this handsome couple enjoying a stroll under an early warming sun. They were Lady Penthesilea and Sir Sephana, master bards from the Ascendants clan. We enjoyed a moment under a Pinare tree as we shared a short breakfast and exchanged tales of our latest adventures. Shortly into our conversation, I asked if they would pose as I paint their portrait. At my request, Penthesilea blushed, then glanced quickly at Sephana who also turned away when her eyes met his. "You two ARE married, aren't you?" I said, trying to hide my grin. "Oh no sir!" began Penthesilea, "We are just... um... friends." "Yes <cough>. Right. Friends, sir. Just friends." stuttered Sephana. Both their cheeks were blood-red by now in utter embarrassment. I had clearly tapped into a sensitive subject, but being the mean, sneaky artist that I am, I pushed forward. "Ahh, friends." I said wryly. "Well stand next to your friend while I paint this picture. And don't worry, it'll just be a "FRIEND-ly" portrait." After a little more persuasion, I got them to pose in front of this magnificent backdrop. I even convinced them to hold hands, to which they both tried desperately to hide the bliss they felt when their hands met. There were a few times when I would look up to find them whispering to each other, their eyes locked in an affectionate stare. It was obvious that the only beings who knew NOT of their admiration for each other, were themselves. On
